Cordes-sur-Ciel
The construction of the city of Cordes by Count Raymond VII of Toulouse in 1222, is linked to the Albigensian Crusade which was launched in the early thirteenth century against the Cathars. Cordes was the first and largest of the “bastides” (walled new towns), founded to house the populations hardest hit by the war and to reclaim the territory.

Albi, la « red town » hosts the highly impressive fort-cathedral of Sainte-Cécile - the world's largest brick cathedral, and also the Berbie palace. Together they dominate the historic town centre and the river.
La Berbie now contains a museum containing the largest collection of works by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, a native of Albi.
Toulouse is a destination for walking and discovery. The heart of South-West France, between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, between the Pyrenees and the agricultural plains, the "pink city" is modern but remains proud of a vast heritage and is classified as one of the Grand site of the Midi-Pyrenees.

The charming market town of Castres boasts two important museums - one dedicated to Jean Jaurès, one of the most important figures in the French socialist movement who was born here. The other, the Goya museum, has the largest collection of classic Spanish art in France, outside of Paris.
The town centre is crossed by the Agout river. The banks of the river are bordered by colourful houses built in the middle ages to house the workers in the wool, leather and paper industries.
Built on the banks of the Aude river, Carcassonne is strategically situated between the cities of Toulouse, Montpellier and Barcelona. It's remarkably well-preserved medieval city once housed over 20,000 people and has been continually inhabited to this day.
The city was famously used by Disney as the basis for the castle in Sleeping Beauty.
